Nature-based solutions (NbS) are a set of actions that aim to protect, sustainably manage and restore natural or modified ecosystems to face challenges and benefit human beings and biodiversity. (Source: International Union for Conservation of Nature – IUCN)
Nature-based solutions in practice
Restoration, Infrastructure, Management, Protection, Specific Issue. Which impact on human health, disaster risk reduction, water security, environmental degradation and loss of biodiversity, socioeconomic development, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, food security. Why are they important and urgent?

The world needs to triple investments in NbS by 2030 (UN News).
Each year, tackling crises related to climate, biodiversity and land aggregation requires US$536 billion. The amount is four times greater than the current US$ 133 billion invested (UN News).

- For every US$ 1.00 invested in NbS, the return is US$ 10.00.
- Only 3% of companies report NbS as part of their climate adaptation strategy.
- Brazil alone represents 20% of global opportunities in NbS with important participation in reforestation, soil management and agriculture. This means that we can be a reference for NbS implementation in the world!
