{"id":12544,"date":"2021-08-27T09:01:11","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T12:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brcarbon.com.br\/?p=12544"},"modified":"2024-02-08T13:10:30","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T16:10:30","slug":"brc-biodiversity-team-and-oct-team-begin-monitoring-pratigi-restoration-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brcarbon.com.br\/en\/brc-biodiversity-team-and-oct-team-begin-monitoring-pratigi-restoration-project\/","title":{"rendered":"BRC biodiversity team and OCT team begin monitoring Pratigi restoration project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brcarbon.com.br\/\">BRCarbon&#8217;s<\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">biodiversity team and the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oct.org.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earth Conservation Organization (OCT)<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">team began monitoring the clustered restoration project in the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oct.org.br\/apa-do-pratigi\/apresentacao\/19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pratigi EPA<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">classified as a Gold Seal for biodiversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">150 hectares will be monitored \u2013 project activity instance (PAI) 1 and 2 \u2013 in the middle of the Central Corridor of the Atlantic Forest, a region of rare endemism and high biodiversity, considered a hotspot for conservation. The territory of APA do Pratigi has high water richness, with a large supply of water and rain well distributed throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within its limits, the APA is drained by ten sub-basins and a hydrographic basin, the Juliana River, one of the main reasons for the creation of this Conservation Unit. The Juliana River basin is still home to extensive fragments of dense rainforest, but it is undergoing a process of occupation of permanent preservation areas, with recurrent deforestation since the 1990s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the measures to reverse the current degradation scenario is the restoration of riparian forests and springs on properties in the region, with the support of financial resources from the carbon market. Still in 2021, the project will be verified against the VCS\/CCB standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The grouped project started in 2011 and since the beginning of this year, BRC has been a partner in the management.
